Fashion News 2007 2011

Who is Jas M.B.? Back in the early 90s Jas Sehmi established his accessories label, which was originally called IMB. Then in 2000 the handbag designer added more to the mix, by moving from not only working with nylon and canvas materials but with fine Italian leather as well as a result, we now have his new line Jas M.B.

Pictured above is the Jas MB Scaled leather tote, which just so happens to be resting on the virtual clearance section of nap where its retailing for 30% off. This bag is new to mark down section, so I dont expect it to be there for much longer. Use it as a chic oversized style tote to carry everything you need during the day or use it as a fabulous overnight carry-all.

The bag is dressed in a black scale-effect leather on the large oversized body with brass buckle detailing. The bag also features a large zip fastening pocket and a smaller zip fastening compartment on back. This designer tote also comes with double arm straps and even a removable shoulder strap. Make note, I dont know if you guys noticed, but the straps are decorated with what appears to resemble cat puncture wounds to the leather. Or well at least thats what it looks like to me.

Like the outfit pictured above? I know I cut part of it down the middle to make room for the oversized Jas MB tote, but you get the idea. The dress pictured above is called the sleeveless Shift by Hoss Intropia, the leggings are nothing special, you can find pair basically anywhere you shop retailing for about $30 a pop, and the shoes are the Inca suede ballet flats with swarvoski crystal details by designer Pedro Garcia. The whole look, including the bag weighs in at about $1,300.

Coach began more than half of a century ago as a family-run workshop in a Manhattan loft. Six artisans handcrafted a collection of high-quality leathergoods using skills passed down from generation to generation. Discerning consumers soon began to seek out the high standards of Coach workmanship.

The founder of Coach was first inspired by a baseball glove when he saw =its distinctive markings and how supple it became with use. After refining it, making it softer and stronger, he created Coachs first handbag. Since then, innovations in leather finishes, new grains and colors, and modern materials continue to fascinate us. But this glove-tanned leather remains a Coach tradition. And it still burnishes as beautifully as it did back when Babe Ruth played baseball.

Throughout the years, Coach has maintained the highest standards of workmanship and materials. Now, greatly expanded, Coachs exceptional workforce is committed to carefully upholding the principles of quality and integrity which made the company great. Today, Coach is considered a classic part of the landscape of American design.

More than forty years ago, Coach introduced twelve eloquently simple bag designs with classic, well-balanced proportions. Over the years, we have added a multitude of new shapes, styles and materials, but each collection embodies the same principles of classic design and American style.

Every Coach product embodies the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. Sizes, shapes, pockets and straps are carefully considered to provide maximum efficiency, comfort and convenience. Seams are double-stitched where reinforcement is required. In our glove-tanned pieces, the inside pockets, handles straps and interior bound edges are all made of the same leather to ensure a consistency of color and texture.

Coach selects only the top ten percent of leathers for their tactile quality, strength, character and grain. In the tanning process the untreated leather is rotated for days in large drums where it is softened and enriched with natural treatments drawn from plant extracts, fats and clear aniline dyes. Like fingerprints, no two grain patterns are alike. Our method of slow curing brings the natural markings to the surface, which makes every Coach product original and unique.

Their glove-tanned pieces are crafted from natural leather which burnishes over time, acquiring a rich, lustrous patina. From handbags to backpacks, each style features signature details such as distinctive hardware, double-needle stitching and bound edges. The shapes soften gradually to the touch, taking on the individual imprint of the wearer.

Their Business Collection features a broad range of pieces, including briefcases, organizers, planners, notepads, computer cases and cell phone cases. Function is paramount, as is an understated sophistication.

The Travel Collection is a luxurious assortment of highly durable and functional luggage and travel accessories in leather and lightweight travel twill created to address the diverse needs of business and weekend travelers.
